FC Barcelona eliminated from UCL

This is the simple truth: FC Barcelona eliminated from UCL. Simeone’s team appeared in the way to the dream of the blaugranas. Two goals scored by Antoine Griezmann classified Atletico de Madrid for the UEFA Champions League semifinals.

The main reason to see FC Barcelona eliminated from UCL is the inaccuracy of their players. They only made a goal in more than 180 minutes in this UEFA Champions League quarter-final. In this match they had too many good opportunities but a mix of the great performance of Oblak tonight and the bad luck of the strikers made this ending agonic.

The end of the second ‘triplete’ dream

In the past season FC Barcelona won five, but after this elimination they will need to focus on La Liga and Copa del Rey where they are leading by three points and classified for the final, respectively.

They wanted to revalidate the UEFA Champions League title, but this time it was impossible. The bad performance in these last two weeks is affecting to the end of season aspirations. Since the team lost the Real Madrid match they lost six points in La Liga and tonight they say goodbye to the most important title they could win.

A night for Griezzmann

The french Real Sociedad former player lived a magical night where he found the first goal. Once he changed the match (36′) he killed it with a penalty that finished with our aspirations after scoring it (88′). It ended with a 2-0 for the local team, 3-2 in the aggregate. That signed their ticket for the semifinals.

Leo Messi had his time too and fought until the end of the match, he is not in his best moment.

El Clasico – FC Barcelona vs Real Madrid

Last Saturday we lived one of these special matches: FC Barcelona vs Real Madrid CFEl Clasico moves millions of spectators who are waiting for the Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Lionel Messi classic battle.

FC Barcelona vs Real Madrid: El Clasico at its finest

Playing in the Camp Nou, the favourite for the victory was FC Barcelona but an ice cold first half without any clear opportunity for any of the teams told us that the match and the stars that were on the field must show their best during the last fourty-five minutes. Gerard Pique scored the first goal for a needed 1-0 (56′) for FC Barcelona. It was not enough

because after the 1-1 (62′) brought by an incredible action of Karim Benzema, all the pressure was in the cule side.

The only chance Messi had to score was denied by Keylor Navas, the goalkeeper signed an incredible actuation in Barcelona. The assistant convinced the referee to invalidate an absolutely legal goal scored by Gareth Bale. Anyway, Cristiano Ronaldo showed and he did it just in time, for a final 1-2 (85′) that sent directly the three points to Madrid.

More than a simple defeat

Being a FC Barcelona vs Real Madrid, the team wanted to bring an important victory to Johan Cruyff, ex-player and ex-coach who passed recently but it wasn’t possible. The goal 500 for Messi must wait too. Zinedine Zidane won his first Clasico and Luis Enrique said that he wanted to win, of course, but the situation is under control. Three points they already lost but the team now must work hard thinking on the next game that is a UEFA Champions League quarter-finals match against Atletico de Madrid.

With this defeat, it also finishes a 39 non-defeat record spree in the worst possible scenario. The good part is that the team is still leader of La Liga with 76 points, followed by Atletico (70), and Real Madrid (69).

Leo Messi FIFA Ballon d’Or winner

Leo Messi won his fifth Ballon d’Or ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar, after a year full of titles playing for FC Barcelona. The award gala in Zurich made the 28 years old player happy “It is a very special moment for me to be back here on this stage, winning again another Ballon d’Or after being there in the audience watching Cristiano win”, he said.

FC Barcelona won five trophies in the last season, including the UEFA Champions League and La Liga titles, being a key player in every game, so it is a clearly deserved prize for the number 10 of the blaugrana team.

After two years with Ronaldo finishing ahead with a great performance in Real Madrid, Leo Messi recovers what he owned four times before and can not hide his happiness:

“It’s incredible this is my fifth. It’s much more than anything I’ve dreamed of as a kid. I want to thank everyone who voted for me and I want to thank my teammates (…) lastly, I want to thank football in general for everything it has brought me. Both the bad and the good. Because it has made me learn and grow.”

Lionel Messi is not a rookie winning this Ballon d’Or

Messi won in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015, and this season seems a great opportunity for his sixth Ballon d’Or, but we must still wait a bit for it.

In the 2015 edition he was chosen by a 41.33% of votes, that is the third highest in the history of this award, clearly ahead of Ronaldo (27.76%) and Neymar (7.86%). Neymar and Messi helped Barça winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. Five of six possible trophies, missing only the Spanish Super Cup in 2015. Ronaldo scored 57 goals over the calendar year, more than Messi, but not enough for his club to win any prize.

As always, they chose their votes wisely; Messi voted for his teammates Luis Suarez, Neymar and Andres Iniesta, and Ronaldo chose Karim Benzema, James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale. This is the 11th time the award went to a FC Barcelona player, five to Messi, two to Johan Cruyff, and one each to Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Stoichkov and Suarez.
